Bird in color pencil

This is a piece I did in color pencil. I used standard Prismacolors, building in the colors trying to get the look of feathers. I find color pencils fairly easy to use. I have a small set of watercolor pencils that I plan to try soon. I didn't do anything for background as I wanted to concentrate on the bird itself.

Daily drawing quick sketch clock

The daily drawing for today was to draw a clock. this is a very quick sketch of the clock on my desk. At most I spent about 10 minutes on it. I have a 5.5 in x 8.5 in sketch book that I will be using to do these things in. There is the form of a clock giving me a picture of clockness. Plato would say to keep looking.

Lighthouse on yellow sticky

This is a drawing from my sketchbook I did on a yellow sticky note. I used the sticky note pad for no other reason than it was there. Yes, it is crude but it is a start.

Beginnings

I have always considered myself a person of the mind. I seem to comprehend the ideas and questions of life without much difficulty. I work in the technical world of steel and construction conceptualizing drawings and ideas and visualizing how the steel framework would come together in order to set a value on the materials that would go into the project. I have had training as a draftsman which has aided me through the years. It is now time in my life where I once again look at the world about me and set it to paper in a more creative way. The only difference is I won't be using straight edges and architect scales to do this work but allow my hand to draw it freely on the chosen surface. My work may be crude at first, but I hope to see it mature. Laugh if you must, at what you see. I only ask that you see the images that will appear here for what they are, a journey not a destination.
